Well done Bharat – Our Unsung Hero!

As well as winning team awards at the recent London Venue Awards, the Hire Space Awards and The Wedding Industry Awards, one of our staff was individually recognised for his contribution behind the scenes at No.4 Hamilton Place. Our very own Bharat Dave was nominated and short-listed for the Unsung Hero Award at the Hire Space event, and we couldn’t be more proud.

In one of our regular ‘meet the team’ blogs last year, we spoke to Bharat to find out a little bit more about him. He told us all about his love of Buffalo wings, how he saved a wedding day from near disaster and what he loves most about his job at No.4 Hamilton Place. In light of his recent, fabulous achievement, we wanted to catch up with Bharat to see how he’s getting on and to find if his new-found fame has changed him at all.

Congratulations Bharat. How does it feel to have been short-listed for the Unsung Hero, which is such a great award?

Very proud to be nominated. It’s always nice when others recognise your efforts, especially when it’s your Boss! (I told my mum I won it. Shhhh.)

Why do you think your efforts at work have been recognised?

I’m lucky that my boss is highly motivating, she wants the best for her team which is really encouraging.

What inspires you to go the extra mile?

It’s a combination of enjoying praise for a job well done, feeling great about having happy clients and the fear of failure.

Can we expect great things from you in the future?

I can’t imagine working in any other industry as putting on events is what I love to do. So hopefully I’ll be doing more of the same and getting better at it every year.

Have you seen many changes in the industry in the last few years?

Every year comes with its fads and phases, but the big things clients want remains pretty consistent. Good food, great drink and fabulous entertainment. Oh, and an inspiring venue! Luckily we can deliver on all of these things.

Unsung Hero

What do you think is going to be the big trend in events for 2018?

I’m hoping the ultra-trendy gin craze will die down because I’m not a fan. I’m hoping it will be replaced with either 20/20 or Hooch. You know, proper old school drinks!

And finally, what one piece of advice would you have given yourself when you were starting out in the events industry?

Make sure you get everything signed off in writing by your clients, so that there’s no room for misunderstanding. Lots of ideas get thrown around when you’re planning an event and it’s all too easy for things to fall through the cracks.
