MEET THE TEAM – EMILY FALCONER, MARKETING MANAGER
In this episode of our meet the team series, we’re talking to Emily Falconer. She shares with us some of her secret passions, details of the best event she has worked on at 4HP and what she loves most about working in the M&E industry.
How long have you been at No.4 Hamilton Place?
Nearly two years now, which has just flown by.
What makes you good at your job?
I’m dedicated. You need to be when working in the events industry as the hours are long and work can become all-consuming at times. I also like to think it is my attention to detail. Clients need to see that in everything you do as it gives them confidence nothing is going to slip through the net.
What do you love most about your job?
No day is the same and you never know how things are going to unfold. A day can include anything, from spending time on our social media platforms, pulling together a wedding brochure, budgeting, or rushing around getting the venue ready for an exciting dinner… there is always a variety of tasks to do so you never get bored.
What’s the best event you’ve worked on at 4HP?
My favourite event at No.4 Hamilton Place is probably a lunch event we held in the Argyll Room and Terrace. A lady organised a special occasion meal to follow receiving a CBE at the Palace. It was wonderful seeing her friends and family coming together and to hear her excitedly telling her story about meeting the Queen. We also hosted an amazing 1920s style wedding last summer which I’ll never forget. The theming was utterly amazing.
What’s the most challenging thing about your job?
It’s probably the same thing that makes it so great, and that’s the variety of tasks and the amount there is to do. There are always pressing things that need to be done to keep clients happy and to deliver on the events we’re holding, but I also have to keep our long-term goals in mind all the time.
Have you ever saved an event from near disaster?
Because we check, double check and triple check everything at 4HP, I’m pleased to say I’ve never experienced a near disaster. Although I have been working on an event when a speaker arrived and when testing his presentation, he discovered the document was corrupt. Luckily we always allow a little contingency time in our planning so we served refreshments to attendees while the speaker worked with our fantastic AV technician, Alex, to access a clean copy of his presentation and test it was all working properly.
What fantasy event would you want to work on?
I LOVE SPORT! In particular football and I’m a huge Tottenham Hotspur supporter and season ticket holder. My fantasy event would be to host their celebratory dinner after winning the Premier League, showing off 4HP, our amazing food by FoodbyDish and having my picture with all the players I love!
What’s your favourite space at 4HP and why?
It has to be the Argyll Room and Terrace. The beautiful, period features of the Argyll Room and stunning views over Hyde Park from the terrace make me so proud when I show clients round. It makes us a venue that can offer the whole package and I’ll never tire of the gasps as I open the mirrored doors to the Argyll Room.
