MEET THE TEAM – STEPHANIE FERNLEY, EVENTS COORDINATOR
Introducing Stephanie Fernley, a relatively new member to the No.4 Hamilton Place Events Team. Stephanie joins us from her previous role as receptionist at the venue and tells us why she loves her new job as Events Coordinator, and her grand plans for The Argyll Room and Terrace.
How long have you been at No.4 Hamilton Place?
It will be one year on 1st September 2016. I started as a receptionist for No.4 Hamilton Place and Royal Aeronautical Society. In this position one of the key parts of my role was to support the No. 4 Hamilton Place Venue Team. I have recently joined the venue team as an Events Coordinator.
What makes you good at your job?
Being a good team player, conscientious and always keen to have new experiences and learn.
What do you love most about your job?
The role of Events Coordinator is very busy which I love, there’s always lots to do. It is also incredible to work for such a fantastic venue. Working on reception I have seen guests’ first impressions of this beautiful building. I enjoy that there are so many aspects to the role. Every day there are different challenges to work through, which makes the job exciting.
What’s the best event you’ve ever worked on?
I am enjoying experiencing the variety and unique aspects of each event so it’s too difficult to choose just one!
What’s the most challenging thing about your job?
Preparation and detailed planning is key to the role, at the same time you also have to have a great deal of flexibility and adapt to changes. Attention to detail at a very busy pace is also essential.
What fantasy event would you want to work on?
No. 4 Hamilton Place is a truly stunning building in one of the best cities in the world. I think it is an exciting location for filming. Our Argyll Room and Terrace is unique. Our rooftop terrace overlooks Hyde Park with stunning panoramic views, just perfect for that essential memorable opening scene! I also think the premiere celebrations should be held here too!
What is your favourite space at No.4 Hamilton Place and why?
Working on reception I have watched many people walk through the doors. I loved being able to experience the vibrant atmosphere as people arrive for events, then making their way up our spectacular staircase to the Argyll Room and Terrace. It’s such an amazing space. I was recently walking a client round the venue, while we were experiencing a beautiful sunny 32-degree-day in London, I stood on the terrace and truly thought wow… just sublime!
